July 31, 2011-- Just in time for summer’s peak, 200 people living with Fabry disease-- an inherited disorder that can cause impaired temperature regulation among its symptoms-- are finding relief in Silver Eagle Outfitters' Hydrous evaporative cooling vest thanks to the aide of the Fabry Support and Information Group’s free vest program.

Caused by deposits of a fatty substance in blood vessel walls throughout the body due to the lack of a necessary enzyme, Fabry disease affects an estimated one in 40,000 people.  Symptoms are varied and include skin rash, fatigue, eye abnormalities, impaired sweating, and pain in the hands and feet, often caused by exercise and extreme heat.

The Fabry Support and Information Group [FSIG] exists to help those living with Fabry disease by providing information and assistance through programs such as the Fabry Lifesaving Initiative and the new Fabry Vest Program.  Through the Vest Program, FSIG is working with Silver Eagle Outfitters, the leading manufacturers of cooling vests and comfort apparel, to offer 100 free Hydrous cooling vests to children and adults living with the disease.

According to Jack Johnson, FSIG Executive Director, “The Vest Program can help those who do not perspire adequately by providing a cooling vest from Silver Eagle Outfitters... Those who suffer heat intolerance can benefit in a range of activities like a walk in the park with the family, children playing in the back yard, summer ball games, school sporting activities or working around the house.”

Vests will be available to the first 200 people, and authorization codes will work for Silver Eagle's Hydrous and Junior Hydrous vest for children.
