Finally, the liner, with a durable water repellant coating, keeps the dog's coat dry and acts as a conductive layer to pull heat from the dog's body.

Marilyn Adams testified that the vest worked to return her Border Collie from the verge of heat stroke. "He was panting until his tongue nearly reached the ground, and he was quite disorientated. His gums and tongue had a bluish tinge to them. As it was on a Sunday, I didn't quite know what to do, because, by the time I got to see a vet, I am sure he would have died." After activating and applying the vest, however, Ms. Adams recounted, "...within a matter of 10 or so minutes, he was panting normally and his gums and tongue had returned to their normal color... I am absolutely certain in my mind that it did save my dear old dog's life that day."
